Week 9 - Lecture

During today's lecture we had a guest speaker named Amare Desta who introduced himself with quite an impressive list of various degrees and also is an author of some academic books. His field of expertise is also knowledge management. The presentation was focused on the area he specialises for and that is knowledge management. He explained the changing economic eras, the differences between them and the direction the humanity is heading. I personally found this fascinating. We were learning about the new trends in economy and the shift towards knowledge, the focus on innovation and quality rather than quantity in general. Very interesting is the conceptual question asking whether the technology is shaping us or we are shaping the technology. In my opinion it works both ways but mainly we as humanity are making the use of the existing and newly developed technology to the best potential and that is why there are new trends coming out of possibilities that allow them to happen. For me this lecture was eye-opening and I will research the topic in my own time just out of my curiosity and urge to know more and understand the progress, maybe predict the future in a sense.
